Friday Musings #39

I went to the JT/Jay Z concert last night. IT WAS AWESOME. Our seats had the added bonus of having a little ledge over it so while it rained, Kim and I got a cool mist. I don't really know very much of their new stuff, but luckily they performed mostly older songs. Besides the crazy traffic getting there (it took us an hour to get from the exit ramp to the parking and that was with us being the a-holes who drive up to the very last point where you can merge in) it was a great night. Though there is one sad note: I'm pretty sure I'm getting old. The concert ended at 11:30 and I was probably ready for bed at 10:30 haha. Lots of coffee today!!!! Getting old sucks.

Friday Musings #37

I've been marathoning Game of Thrones. I finished the first book when I was on vacation and decided that I was just going to watch the TV show from here on out. I don't have the time to sit down and read it all in one sitting, and I can't keep the characters straight when I read a few chapters a week. I am loving the show - I finished season 2 in 4 days. I wanted to include gifs from the show in this post, but I'm too afraid of what I'll find on tumblr.

I know some crazy shit goes down this season and I am both looking forward to and dreading the Red Wedding episode. I've managed to not know what happens yet, but I'm assuming it is a wedding where everyone I love is going to die.

I am constantly surprised by this story and how it makes me start rooting for the characters I hate - they all have such dimension. I think Tywin is a horrible excuse for a human being (like seriously - give Tyrion some love - he is obviously the best of all your offspring) but dammit if that man doesn't swoop in and save the day. TWICE now!

Reddit is doing a Game of Thrones gift exchange which I fully intend to participate in.  (Sign up ends July 5th) I'm happy I'll be caught up before Comic-con so I can finally understand the costumes and maybe I'll hit up their panel/get some sweet swag. Winter is coming and I'm pretty damn excited about it!

Friday Musings #33

So this is how I spent my entire evening last night. I don't know how I hadn't heard of The Lizzie Diaries before. Each episode is around 4 minutes long and they air 2 a week. (so yes, I watched all 98 episodes in one day - I AM NOT ASHAMED TO ADMIT THAT.) The last 2 episodes of the series (rounding it off at an even 100) air next Monday and Thursday. Glad I caught up before the very end! It's a really cute modern-ish day Pride & Prejudice and for the most part I think they did a really good job of translating everything. There are a few characters/lines that I think sound a little forced (mostly because they're lifting it straight from the book) but I really enjoyed it. I'm excited for the last two episodes! Also, the girl who plays Lydia is also in the School of Thrones YouTube show, which as soon as I finish the book and watch the HBO series, I am totally going to watch!

Friday Musings #31

I finished the race and am still alive!! The Disney Princess Half was wonderful - everything I could dream of! I'm still kind of tired from the long weekend as we had to wake up at god-awful hours both Saturday and Sunday. (4:40am, and then 3:40am) Then after "running" I cleaned up and spent an entire day walking around in the parks. My feet were not too pleased with me and decided to let me know by swelling up to the size of small balloons.

I did buy some new sweet kicks at the expo though. And ran in them yesterday once the swelling went down. I also bought a sweaty band at the expo and it is AWESOME. I want to buy them in ALL THE COLORS. They don't slip at all and there are a million different designs (including SPARKLE!!)

Hopefully this weekend I'll get all of my pictures uploaded and then I can share highlights of the race and all the awesome costumes I saw. Get. Excited.

Friday Musings #30

It's FRIDAY!!! WOOHOOOOOO. Time to break it down. I'm heading to my parents house for the weekend to catch up on some TV with my mom and shop at Wal-mart. Yay cheap things! I need to get a bunch of yarn to make a Rapunzel braid for the Disney Princess Half. Otherwise I think I pretty much have my costume together! 16 days to go!

Friday Musings #29

The frequency of posts is going to slow down... or rather, stay the same (as I have been seriously slacking.) When I originally created this blog, I planned to post every day - but my craft back-up log has been pretty much depleted and life is busy so I can't get to all the crafting I want. (*sad trombone*)

I've decided to retire the Wednesday Review. I may replace it with something else... (Fantastic Gif Wednesday??) we'll see. Anyways - hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! (Unless of course you're the Dowager Countess - I hear she doesn't have those.)

Friday Musings #28

I saw this picture in an article I read today. As an avid reader and movie-goer this is the case 95% of the time. There are a few movies coming out in 2013 that are book adaptations and I am SUPER excited about.

I LOVED this book. I realize it's Stephanie Meyer so go ahead and judge me all you want. I am a big fan of Saoirse Ronan. She was great in Hannah. Also I downloaded the Imagine Dragons song Radioactive and CANNOT stop listening to it.

I haven't read this book yet but my coworker has it on "tape" so the plan is to borrow it and make my morning commute productive. Who doesn't love a good zombie flick?

Another book series I'm obsessed with. I read all of the books that are out so far (5 of the intended 6 in the series). Though the story includes vampires and werewolves (like it seems pretty much every teenage novel does these days), the main focus is on Shadowhunters (half human/half angel) which is a refreshing change. And if they're half angel you know they have to be good-looking.

Friday Musings #27

I spent some time on IMDb today looking at all the movies coming out in 2013 so I could make a list of the ones I want to see. I also took a look back at the movies I saw in 2012. Two of my favorites didn't do too well at the box office but were truly amazing films. And I weirdly got to see advanced screenings of both. Hit & Run was one of the (if not THE) funniest movies I saw in 2012. Dax Shepard wrote and directed the film. He basically got all of his friends to be in it for free and I think he said from start to finish it took them 14 weeks to make. Crazy! Cabin in the Woods is a Joss Whedon movie so obviously I loved it. Fran Kranz was amazing and the movie was equal parts scary, hilarious, and twisty. If you have a free night and are looking for a movie to rent, I highly recommend both of these. DOUBLE FEATURE!

Friday Musings #26

One more weekend to Christmas shop!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH. I have almost all of my shopping done - but will most likely have to brave the stores tomorrow to pick up a few last minute items. ELBOWS OUT.

Friday Musings #24

I still have a few things left to pack, but tomorrow I begin the 12 hour drive to Orlando, Florida! Woot!! Along with my whole family, I'll be going to the Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, EPCOT for the International Food & Wine Festival, and of course, HARRY POTTER WORLD.

Can one ever have too much Butterbeer? Back in a week with lots of pictures!

Friday Musings #23

Tonight I'm going to a corn maze out in Middle Of Nowhere, VA. I haven't been to a farm/pumpkin patch/corn maze in about 5 years. (Though you see I will always act like I am 8 years old when I'm there!) I have high hopes for tonight because there is supposed to be a bon fire and it'll be DARK. We get to run through corn fields with flashlights! It'll be just like Signs, or Children of the Corn, or HP and the Goblet of Fire - any movie with a corn field and/or maze!! Maybe David Bowie will be there?

Friday Musings #21

I can't believe I guessed the right number last week! Way to go memory!!

Tonight I'm heading down to Williamsburg for the opening weekend of Howl-O-Scream. One of my ALL TIME FAVORITE THINGS TO DO IN THE FALL. What's that? Fall doesn't start till next weekend? Haters!! Once the weather decided to be in the 70's during the day I went into full on fall mode. Scarves and boots are coming out!! I'm going to have to go dig around in the attic and try to find my Halloween shirt. We sure do love matching in my family!

So many things to muse about - which one to choose? The VMAs? Thank god I don't work in a profession where I would have to try to wear an outfit that outcrazies this:

Believe me, nobody wants to see me in an outfit like this. Though I can't lie, I'm digging her hair. Then there's the DNC... I dvr'd it, but haven't watched it yet. Apparently the speeches were amazing/life changing/lies/baby killers... this is why I hate politics - so polarizing. Why can't we all just get alongggg????? I do appreciate people who take it all seriously though because it's a job I could never do - I avoid confrontation AT ALL COSTS. 

Anyways, I'm happy its finally the weekend. This 4 day week has been the longest ever! Okay, not really - but I've been struggling lately on getting things accomplished. Here's to a productive next week!! 

Friday Musings #18

This weekend is Wedding #3!! I'm heading home early to pack and then out to the Dulles area for the rehearsal. Still need to figure out what I'm going to wear. Procrastination FTW! Anyways, I'm really excited - the weather is supposed to be gorgeous. I have my nails did - its going to be a fantastic weekend. While I'm running around like a mad person this morning making sure I have everything done that needs to be, I will leave you with my new obsession.

 

 The first time I heard it I thought it was dumb, the lyrics make no sense. But it's do damn catchy and now I can't stop singing it. I need to use this pick up line on somebody before it's defunct.

Friday Musings #17

It's Star Wars Day people! I wish I had had the time this week to get out my star wars cookie cutters and really celebrate today. Oh well there's always May 4th 2013!!

Basically this is a weekend full of NERDY things. Tomorrow is free comic book day. If you're into that sort of thing you should definitely check out your local comic book store. I went last year and got a few free comics, though where they are now is any one's guess. If you're a Whedon fan like me, I hear there are some free Buffy/Serenity comics!

That's right Schmidt, but there is one sequel that I am pretty pumped about. AVENGERS! 

Geekologie had an article on a bunch of different Avenger eye-makeups. Captain America is def my favorite. I'm going to go see it on Sunday and kinda wish I could rock this look.

It's also Cinco de Mayo this weekend. She Knows has this awesome recipe for Piñata cookies. I totally want to make these someday. I hope your weekends are full of margaritas, tacos, and superheroes!

Friday Musings #15

So you may have noticed I took this week off (well, Tuesday - Thursday). Tuesday was TAX DAY! Everything is filed and I took the rest of the week to celebrate - aka eat ice cream, drink beer, and sleep. It. Was. Fabulous.

Friday Musings #14

I need to get organized. I just cleaned out my closet/dresser - 4 bags of old t-shirts and outdated clothes will be on their way to Goodwill in the morning! Woot! My room is the cleanest its been in a while. (i.e. you can see the floor.) While I'm on my organizing frenzy, I've been thinking that I need to make a craft calendar. I know there are certain projects I need to complete by certain dates (Comic-con costumes by July 12). That's the only hard deadline, but I'd like to get out my baby presents sooner rather than later as well. Right now I'm working on another top secret project that is pretty fun. Since I don't have a lot of plans this weekend hopefully I'll get a big chunk of that done. I'm excited to be in town for the next 2 weekends in a row - cause I'll be out of town for the following 4 weekends after that. I just realized that I'm pretty much rambling and this wont be interesting to anybody - so also I found $100, got punched in the face, and then we made-out.

Friday Musings #13

Ahhh - I wish this was next week! How cool would it be to have Friday Musings #13 on FRIDAY THE 13th!?!?!. I'm peacing out of work in about 2 hours (gotta beat the crazy DC traffic) and heading down to Williamsburg to spend Easter weekend with the fam - and of course go to Busch Gardens. I made cupcakes last night for Easter lunch but I still have to decorate them.

Peep Sushi

Look at the ADORABLE peep sushi my coworker Amanda made!! It's peeps on top of rice krispies wrapped in fruit roll up. I want to EAT THEM ALL. Next year I will be up on my Peep crafts - I failed miserably at them this year. Hope you all have a Hoppy Easter!!
